Please, read these guidelines carefully. It is essential that you read and understand these points before proceeding with the next step.
Download the contract (available in PDF and in text versions), read it throughly, print it in paper, fill it and send us a notarized copy, via certified mail, to this address:
American Journal of Anthropomorphics
Vision Entertainment
P. O. Box 5800009
Flushing - NY - 11358-0009
From the moment you sign and have your half of that document notarized, you are protected by a legally binding contract against any deliberate or accidental misuse of your work.
In sending material in for possible publication, be sure to send at least four pieces of artwork:
three full-page-sized ones for your section and
a small, quarter-page one for a counterpoint on your bio / background page.
If you can send more, do so. Send as many as you conveniently can.
Artists have been rejected in the past because although some of the pieces they submitted were acceptable, others were not, and we were unable to get enough work from them in time for the next issue to complete a section. By giving us extra pieces to choose from, we will be better able to compose a section for you that can be published.
Pieces with detailed backgrounds, that show your ability to render in two and three point perspective, that show your ability to realistically illustrate characters, architecture, machinery and complex settings, are greatly preferred over simpler works.
If you choose to send your work physically, rather than in electronic form, be sure to mail your work flat, in a cardboard-backed or stiffened envelope, clearly marked "DO NOT BEND", to the company's oversized Post Office Box at the address listed below.
There is no need to send originals unless you are using ink washes or subtle colors that do not reproduce well! High-quality copies, be they color or B&W, are fine for all other work.
If you MUST send originals, be sure to register or at least insure the package against loss or damage. More than one artist has lost original work in the mails by not doing this. Originals, if sent, will be returned when they have either been published, rejected or requested back by you.
Artwork may consist of line art, ink washes, Zipatone or color in any medium, including digitally colored works.
It is highly recommended that digitally colored works be submitted electronically.
Color, unless selected to be printed in color by the Editor, will be halftoned in as fine a screen as possible.
Submitted prints can be of any size, though 8 x 10" minimum is recommended on all pieces save the one used as a counterpoint to each artist's background and contact information page.
Be sure to note on the back of each print the year in which the art was done, what medium(s) were used, and what it is entitled.
Artwork need not be new or previously unpublished. You may choose from your existing portfolio your best works to be showcased, and not divert time away from your current projects.
However, it should be representative of styles that you are either currently drawing in or are willing to draw in.
Nudity and erotica are not desired. Art should be limited to a tasteful G Rating.
The Journal is a professional product, intended for viewing by commercial print and product house buyers and art directors.
As such, all work that has visible sexual content will be rejected. This is not to say that characters cannot be definitely male or female, (i.e., have breasts), but rather it is to say that their sexual attributes should not (a) be exposed, (b) be concealed by tight-fitting t-shirts, etc.
